Wes Sever, Anthony Baumann and Jake Peterson have scored goals to give Tampa Prep a 3-0 halftime lead against Tallahassee Maclay in the Class 2A state semifinals at Pepin Stadium.
The Terrapins, seeking their fourth state title in six years, are being buoyed by what surely will stand as the largest home crowd of this four-day tournament. More than 100 Tampa Prep students made the two-minute walk from their campus across Cass Street to catch the game.
They've seen a one-sided affair so far.
Peterson's goal in the 13th minute, from roughly 6 yards out, came courtesy of Anthony Baumann's 32nd assist of the season. Sever scored his 32nd goal of the year roughly 12 minutes later on a breakaway.
Baumann, on a Peterson assist, finished the first-half scoring by lofting a 12- to 15-yard shot over the head of Marauders keeper Taylor Miller in the 38th minute.
A couple of other early scoring opportunities were just missed by the Terps, who have taken the only four shots on goal of the match.
Sever's shot in front of the net, set up by Aaron Burrell's cross, was deflected by Miller in the fifth minute.
Five minutes later, Baumann sent a feed from the right corner of the penalty box down to Sever, whose shot went wide left. In the 21st minute, Baumann's free kick from the same spot set up a Sever header that nicked the top of the crossbar.
