Though his eligibility for 2012 remains unclear, Armwood OL Aaron Evans is making plans to secure his long-term status.

Evans, a brawny rising senior (6-foot-5, 265 pounds) who moved across the street from Seffner Christian earlier this year, has committed to UCF, Hawks coach Sean Callahan confirmed Monday. Callahan's oldest son, Kirk, is Knights defensive backs coach.

Evans was expected to have an immediate impact for a Hawks line that lost every starter from its undefeated 2011 squad, but was deemed ineligible for last month's spring jamboree by principal Michael Ippolito. Evans and four other transfers were sidelined amid an FHSAA investigation that eventually found four members of the 2011 team falsified residence information to enroll at Armwood.

Sean Callahan said Monday that Evans' status for the fall remains uncertain. Upon Evans' move to Armwood, Seffner Christian coach Steve Lewis said he suspected no "foul play" in Evans' move.
