Former Armwood shot-blocking specialist Demetrius Jackson, dismissed from the team roughly halfway through his senior season, is getting a chance to continue his career.
Jackson will sign a letter of intent with Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas, later this week, his father announced today.
Before his dismissal, which was preceded by an early-season suspension that later was overturned on appeal, Jackson used his ranginess (6-foot-5, 195 pounds) to average 7.5 blocks and 13 rebounds for the Hawks (1-24). As a junior, he averaged 8.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 6.6 blocks.
