Armwood rushing leader Matt Jones, who sustained another left leg injury in last week's 49-3 playoff rout of Largo, is questionable for Friday's Class 4A region final at Punta Gorda Charlotte, coach Sean Callahan said Wednesday afternoon.

"He's injured again," Callahan said. "I'm not sure what his status is going to be for Friday. Right now it's questionable."

Jones (88 carries, 682 yards, eight TDs) suffered what was believed to be a calf strain in the second half of the Hawks' Nov. 6 win at East Bay. He missed the regular season finale against Alonso and had only four carries in a first-round playoff win against Sickles.

He ran 11 times for 64 yards last week at Largo before exiting in the second half.

Callahan says the latest injury is located around Jones' ankle and Achilles tendon, making it tough for him to explode off the leg.

Elsewhere, though, Callahan says the Hawks are relatively healthy. Linebacker D.J. Hitchman, held out of the first two playoff games with what Hitchman called a lower hamstring problem, is expected to return Friday.

"He's playing," Callahan said. "He's back."
