Former Berkeley Prep star Bryane Heaberlin and her teammates on the USA Under-20 Women's National Team are one victory or draw from the quarterfinals of the 2012 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The 18-year-old Heaberlin, who will join the University of North Carolina squad after the World Cup, had a save in Thursday's 1-1 draw against China PR in Hiroshima, Japan. On Monday, she registered three saves and came off her line frequently to cut off through balls in a 4-0 rout of Ghana in the team's Group D opener.
Heaberlin, the youngest player on the team by a month, was a three-time NSCAA All-American and a Parade All-American at Berkeley Prep. She and the U.S. earn a quarterfinals berth by defeating or tying Germany on Monday in Rifu, Japan. That match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 beginning at 2:50 a.m. ET.
