Hernando CF Ashley Sims has verbally committed to play softball at Seminole State, Leopards head coach Kevin Bittinger said Thursday morning in a text message.

Sims earned honorable mention all-North Suncoast honors after her junior season. She compiled a .397 batting average with 8 RBIs and 24 runs scored last spring.

She ranked among the area’s leaders with 33 stolen bases and had a .972 fielding percentage.

Seminole State won the Florida College System Activities Association state championship for the first time in school history last spring and qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association’s national tournament.
