Hernando defensive lineman Malcolm Hudson has verbally committed to Army, Leopards coach John Palmer said Thursday afternoon.
Hudson, a 5-foot-11, 235-pound senior, was one of Tampa Bay’s top defensive tackles. He recorded 55 tackles and three sacks to help the Leopards win their first district title since 1997.
Hudson also defended three passes, forced three fumbles, recovered two, blocked a punt and had a diving interception with three minutes left against Gainesville in the playoff opener. He was an all-Suncoast first-team selection by the Times and was chosen to play for the North in the FACA all-star game.
The Black Knights began recruiting Hudson late. They gave him his only Division I offer in late March.
Army finished 3-9 last season.
