Hernando RB Marqui Redding will play at Webber

Hernando RB Marqui Redding has accepted a football scholarship to Webber International University, former Leopards coach John Palmer said Thursday in a text message.

The  6-foot, 195-pound bruiser was one of Hernando County’s leading rushers. He churned out 780 yards on 115 carries last fall and was second on the team with 11 touchdowns. Redding also totaled 27 tackles on defense.

In the season opener, he came off the bench to rush for 191 yards and four scores.
