Hernando will retire Mike Walker's No. 7 jersey tonight in a ceremony before its game against Springstead. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Walker was a first-round selection with Montreal in 1985, but did not sign. He was drafted again the next year by the Cleveland Indians with their first-round pick, 27th overall. In 12 years as a pro, Walker played for the Indians, Tigers, Cubs and Phillies.

Collegiately, Walker played at Seminole Community College and signed with Florida State before forgoing that opportunity to play professionally.

Walker currently is the director for Brooksville's parks and recreation as well as the Hernando Youth League.
