Hillsborough: Baseball statistics, super 7

Times’ Super Seven
Records through Wednesday

1. Jesuit (13-1): Saturday’s game against Tampa Catholic is a welcome challenge for a team that’s 10-runned opponents in six of seven district games.

2. Plant (13-3): Panthers responded with an 8-2 win over Newsome to avenge an upset in the Saladino quarterfinals.

3. Jefferson (14-4): Ace Jimmy Herget threw a one-hitter but took the loss against Strawberry Crest.

4. Bloomingdale (15-3): Top of the lineup is as good as any in the county.

5. Wharton (12-5): Late-game home run heroics from Louisville commit Tuck Neuhaus kept the Wildcats one game back of Class 8A-7 leaders Plant and Bloomingdale.

6. Steinbrenner (10-6): The emergence of sophomore Cole Gordon gives the Warriors two top-flight arms.

7. Brandon (9-6): Outside of Jesuit, the only area school in a large classification with a perfect district record.

Just a bit outside: Durant (8-6), Freedom (11-4), Gaither (10-6), King (8-7), Newsome (9-8), Riverview (10-5), Strawberry Crest (10-4), Tampa Catholic (8-4)
