Times’ Super 7
1. Tampa Catholic (7-1): Won six straight, owns an early-season win over Jesuit and has a 0.70 staff ERA. What’s not to like about Pat Russo’s squad right now?
2. Brandon (9-2): While taking the lead in the 6A-8 super district, Eagles own wins over Armwood, Bloomingdale and Plant twice.
3. Jesuit (9-1): Winning by 8.5 runs a game (a stat that could be worse if not for the mercy rule).
4. Alonso (10-3): We think the Ravens will still be the team to beat, but with three losses they have to take a dip.
5. Gaither (7-2): Won five straight and continues to rule 5A-9 with a 6-0 record. Expect the district domination to continue.
6. Armwood (6-4): All four losses came in its past six games, including setbacks to Alonso and Brandon.
7. Steinbrenner (7-1): Only loss is to Jesuit; they will get a rematch with the Tigers on Saturday.
In the conversation: Bloomingdale (7-3), Sickles (6-3), Durant (5-3), Jefferson (5-3), Cambridge (8-2)
