Boys district soccer
Class 4A, District 9: At Brandon, top-seeded Plant City got two goals each from Gerson Herrera and Cameron Roberts in a 5-1 semifinal victory against No. 4 East Bay.
Trent Lott had the other goal for the Raiders, who face No. 2 Strawberry Crest in Friday’s final. The Chargers scored two goals in the first 10 minutes en route to a 3-0 victory against Armwood.
Class 2A, District 9: At Clearwater Central Catholic, six Berkeley Prep players scored — with senior Kevin Harvey tallying two — in the Buccaneers’ 7-0 semifinal rout of Tampa Catholic. Daniel Felman, Tyler Sacone, Connor Castro, Kevin Atari and Georgios Karides also scored for Berkeley (14-7-2).
Class A, District 7: At Indian Rocks Christian, top-seeded Tampa Prep got a hat trick from sophomore Michael Spezza in a 5-1 semifinal victory against Seffner Christian. Captains Jordan Hayes and Gustavo Pires had the other goals for the Terrapins, who face No. 2-seeded Indian Rocks Christian in Friday’s title match.
Standout performances from Wednesday night
Chivarsky Corbett, Tampa Catholic: The 6-foot-5 sophomore scored 21 — the seventh time he has reached the 20-point mark in the past nine games — in a 57-44 victory against Lakewood Ranch
Ashley Nelson, Durant: The senior guard scored a game-high 24 in the Cougars’ 45-42 victory against East Bay
Tre Leonard, Robinson: Twenty-four hours after a 33-point, 21-rebound effort against Alonso, the 6-foot-4 senior had another astounding double double (29 points, 12 rebounds) in an 84-72 win against Steinbrenner
Michael Spezza, Tampa Prep: The sophomore forward had his first hat trick of the season in a 5-1 district semifinal win against Seffner Christian
Dario Duque, East Bay: The rangy senior guard had 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists and six steals as the Indians (14-4) held off Durant 58-56

The Armwood boys soccer team’s 3-2 victory against Hillsborough — after seven rounds of penalty kicks — in Tuesday’s Class 4A, District 9 opening round was the Hawks’ first district tournament victory since 1990-91, when coach Tony Pirotta was in sixth grade. Sophomore keeper Alvaro Adderley had the game-clinching save in the final PK round.
