Times’ super 7
Records through Wednesday
1. Bloomingdale (6-0): The Bulls are ranked ninth in the state in Class 8A after posting back-to-back shutouts against Wharton and Riverview.
2. Strawberry Crest (6-1): The good news: The Chargers have three straight shutout victories, including one over rival Plant City. The bad news: Third baseman Trystan Reibsome is out with a knee injury.
3. Plant (4-2): The Panthers have one of the county’s most impressive resumes so far, with wins over Newsome, Chamberlain and Plant City.
4. Newsome (4-1): Last week’s 2-1 win over Alonso was a big boost in a crowded Class 8A, District 7.
5. Alonso (5-1): Seniors Jessica Warren and Elly Pillers rank among the area’s leaders with 10 RBIs each.
6. Tampa Catholic (5-1): Madison Epperson’s four RBIs helped the Crusaders knock off Holy Names 7-4 this week in a battle between two of Tampa’s best small schools.
7. Steinbrenner (5-1): Sophomore Kara Wilson is off to a blistering start, batting .800 with six extra-base hits and and nine RBIs in five games.
