Paul Barrett, Gaither: The Cowboys senior won three individual events (high jump, 110-meter hurdles, 300 hurdles) and ran on the winning 4x400 relay team in a tri-meet with Chamberlain and Tampa Bay Tech.
Jordan LaFave, Durant: The senior leadoff hitter went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs in the undefeated Cougar softball team’s 6-5 win at Plant City.
Derek Martin, Tampa Catholic: The senior ace threw a one-hit shutout, striking out five, in a 5-0 win over Sarasota Cardinal Mooney. Teammates Luke Helms and Paulie Russo added home runs.
Garrett Lorenzo, Bloomingdale: The junior, who entered the game in a bit of a slump, drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to beat Brandon 4-3.
Ryan Valdes, Alonso: The Florida State commit, who hit the winning three-run home run Tuesday, kept up his torrid pace with a double and a home run in a 4-2 win over Robinson.
Erik Dowse, Newsome: The junior went 2-for-4 with a double and took two bases on a sacrifice bunt before scoring the winning run in the top of the seventh as the Wolves beat East Bay 3-1.

Tampa Catholic interim softball coach Cindy Deters, thrust into duty when predecessor Vernon Tatum and his staff resigned Monday afternoon, watched the Crusaders pull out a 5-3 victory against Springstead. Co-captains Krista Garcia and Tatum Nejman tripled.
