Hillsborough defensive back Terrence Mitchell was so impressed by his recent official visit to Illinois that he told Terriers coach Earl Garcia this week that he would select the Fighting Illini if he had to choose a school today.

Mitchell, one of the top cornerback recruits in the nation, made the visit to Champaign this past weekend. He also is slated to make an official visit to USF and make his final official to Florida State in mid-January. He has also already made official visits to Georgia and Tennessee

Garcia said Mitchell has eliminated Georgia from consideration. Last week, Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt fired all but one of his defensive coaches, including defensive coordinator Willie Martinez and co-coordinator John Janceck.

Mitchell is the fifth best cornerback recruit in the nation, according to Rivals.com.
