Academy of the Holy Names crew star Kiersten DeHaven has committed to Notre Dame and will sign with the Fighting Irish on Wednesday.

She chose Notre Dame over Cornell, Boston University and Minnesota.

In the end, it came down to Notre Dame and Cornell.

“It was a difficult choice but Kiersten felt that Notre Dame was the best all-around fit for her academically, athletically and spiritually,” her mother, Candace DeHaven, said in an email “In addition, Kiersten felt a great connection with the team and coaches when they flew her up for her official visit in October.”

DeHaven has had great success the past two years competing in sculling -- single and double -- at regattas throughout the eastern U.S.

This fall, she has led AHN’s varsity 4 boat to wins in two races, including one victory over state power Plant recently in the Head of the Halloween regatta at Tampa’s Bypass Canal.
