Each week, our HomeTeam staffers will nominate male and female Hot Shot athletes from each of the counties we cover, then we turn the voting over to our readers. These nominations span Saturday, Oct. 19 through Friday, Oct. 25. The winners get a free T-shirt and bragging rights over every other school in the area. Read up on what made our nominees stand out, then vote until noon Monday.

Female nominees
Aaliyah Anderson, Anclote volleyball:
The senior had 16 kills in the district championship match against Fivay, including several shots that kept the third set close. Anderson has 238 kills in 75 sets this season.

Shea Hamilton, Clearwater Central Catholic volleyball: The junior had 11 kills in the district semifinal against Indian Rocks Christian and 11 kills in the final win over Calvary. She also had a season-high 29 digs against the Warriors, giving her 37 in the tournament.

Eliana Ochoa, Brandon cross country: The speedy sophomore won her second straight district championship, earning the Class 3A, Disrict 9 crown in 19:24.90 — 90 seconds better than her time last fall.

Samantha Reeves, Clearwater volleyball: The senior hitter had 19 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Countryside in the 7A-9 semifinals. She followed that with 14 kills in the district final against Seminole — for Clearwater’s third straight championship — and added six blocks.

Courtney Vogler, Holy Names volleyball: The junior’s six blocks and 12 kills helped clinch a playoff berth for AHN. Two nights later, her 23 kills helped the Jaguars upset mighty Berkeley Prep to win the Class 4A, District 10 championship.

Kara Wilkins, Sunlake swimming: The freshman won the 100 fly (1:00.16) and 100 back (59.29) to help the Seahawks to their first district team title. She also swam on two winning relay teams — 200 medley (2:03.44) and 400 free (3:56.25).

Male nominees
Liam Doherty, Freedom golf:
His 25-foot birdie putt on 18 avoided a playoff and gave his Patriots the Class 3A, Region 4 championship. His individual round wasn’t bad, either — he shot 2-under 70 to earn a share of the individual title.

Donterio Fowler, Lakewood football: The running back carried 16 times against Tarpon Springs for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Fowler, who had a touchdown run of 84 yards on the second play from scrimmage, helped Lakewood win its first district championship since 2002.

Won Jun Lee, Saddlebrook golf: His 3-under 69 tied for the low round at the Class A, Region 5 tournament and helped his Spartans win the team title. It also featured the first hole-in-one of his life after he aced the 14th hole.

Artavis Scott, East Lake football: The senior had eight carries for 107 yards and two touchdown runs of 19 and 37 yards in Friday’s 42-12 district-clinching win over Pinellas Park. It is East Lake’s third straight district championship.

Noah Siegrist, Hudson football: The senior running back scored the Cobras’ first two touchdowns en route to 173 yards on 27 carries to help Hudson beat River Ridge and clinch its first playoff spot since 2009.

Jeff Suarez, Gaither football: The wide receiver had a pair of touchdowns — on a 2-yard run and a 40-yard reception — in the Cowboys’ 14-10 upset of Tampa Bay Tech.
