Based on news reports emanating from east Tennessee, former Armwood star Adam Sollazzo should be grateful to be on any team today.
As it stands, he's on the all-Atlantic Sun Conference first team.
An East Tennessee State senior, Sollazzo -- who scored his 1,000th career point in the Buccaneers' senior-night game last weekend -- leads ETSU in scoring (15.5 per game) and assists (4.4). He has scored in double figures 22 times.
He reportedly almost lost a shot at No. 23.
According to the Johnson City Press, Sollazzo and teammate J.C. Ward told police they were bound, gagged and robbed at gunpoint by three intruders who entered an apartment shared by Ward and fellow Buccaneer Sheldon Cooley the night of Feb. 21.
Cooley, a former Plant High star, later was arrested and charged with falsely reporting he had $1,300 stolen during the same robbery.
Sollazzo's mom, Terry, said in an e-mail to the Times her son is fine, focused and ready for this week's A-Sun tournament.
