Hudson G Chris Russo has orally committed to play at Ave Maria University, an NAIA school in Naples.
Cobras coach Jason Vetter said in an e-mail Russo will sign with the school next week. Russo will receive a $10,000 athletic scholarship, Vetter sauid.
"Chris is the first Hudson boys basketball player to receive an athletic scholarship from a four-year school in at least 21 years," Vetter wrote.
Last year, Hudson guard Jarrod Branco went to Flagler as a preferred walk-on.
Russo averaged 20.7 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game, helping the Cobras to a 10-15 record last season.
