Hudson football players Austin Smith and Dontaie Collins have been suspended indefinitely, athletic director Andy Schmitz said.

The duo was arrested in an attempted robbery last month. Schmitz said he spoke with parents of the players, and both are expected to return to school this week. In terms of football, the duo will sit out pending the outcome of the police investigation.

Currently, Smith and Collins are serving a mandatory 20-day suspension from extracurricular activities. Hudson can extend the punishment as it sees fit, according to the Pasco County Schools handbook.

Smith and Collins, who play quarterback and receiver respectively, were expected to play significant roles this season.
