Hudson had a mere 18 players out for spring practice, and on Monday the Cobras dressed just seven more.

According to second-year coach Justin Fenton, seven expected contributors, including four starters, did not practice because they did not have physicals prepared for the first day. Fenton expects all of them to be on the field later in the week.

The Cobras are expecting a decent influx of freshmen, but Fenton wants to keep them on JV despite the varsity's low numbers.

"Bodies would be nice but we would like them to stay on JV," Fenton said. "But if we get two or three kids injured, they’re going to have to play on varsity, which isn’t fair to those kids because they’re freshmen."
