Behind the play of tournament MVP Carley Scarbrough, Sarasota Riverview defeated Palm Harbor University 26-24, 25-21 Saturday in the final of the Karl Flammer Ford Invitational held at Clearwater Christian College.

Both teams advanced by winning all three of their matches in Friday's round-robin play. Sarasota Riverview and PHU are both in Class 8A, District 8 and play each other Tuesday.

"If you're going to lose to them I guess this is the time," PHU coach Tara Kuk said.

In the third-place game, host Calvary Christian defeated Cardinal Mooney 25-21, 25-11.

The all-tournament team included Shelby Mahaz (Calvary Christian), Casey Houlton (St. Petersburg), Sam Schlesman (Seminole), Daniele Green (Mitchell) and Mia Ismali and Jazmine Barker (PHU)
