Heralded Gibbs DE Tim Jackson has narrowed his list of potential schools to eight.

Here’s who made the cut (in alphabetical order): Iowa State, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Stanford, USF, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.

In all, Jackson has scholarship offers from 18 schools.

Jackson has already visited Wake Forest, and plans to trip to Stanford in late November. He also expects to visit Ole Miss and UNC, meaning the other schools on his list will try to score his final trip.

“I’ll be making my decision soon after I’ve taken all five visits,” Jackson said in an email to the Times.

Rivals.com rates the 6-foot-5, 220-pound Jackson as a three-star prospect.

You’ll notice that something stands out about Jackson’s list of schools: Most of them are top-notch academic institutions.

That makes sense – according to Rivals.com, Jackson not only has excellent grades, but scored high on his SAT.
