The Indian Rocks Christian volleyball team has been without a match this week as it prepares for this weekend's Orlando Volleyball Academy high school tournament at the Orlando Sports Center, and the break in the schedule is probably a good thing for the Golden Eagles.

Five IRC players -- Kindall Edwards, Natalie Feathers, Lauren Coxhead, Michelle Brown and Rachael Jones -- have been unavailable for practice this week because of flu-like symptons. Three of those players -- Edwards, Brown and Jones -- are starters.

With a short squad, IRC coach Mark Foster cancelled practice Tuesday and Wednesday with the hopes that everybody will be rested and healthy for this weekend's tournament in Orlando.

Another IRC player on the shelf, junior setter Kahley Dohme, is close to 100% after hyperextending her elbow in the summer. Dohme should be ready to go Friday, but Foster can't be too sure because of this week's limited practice time.

IRC is scheduled to play Fernandina Beach and Lakeland on Friday and Orangewood Christian on Saturday in Elite division pool play.

Northside Christian will also compete in this weekend's Orlando tournament and plays in the Premier division. The Mustangs get Lake Highland Prep and Boone on Friday and finish pool play against Royal Palm Beach on Saturday.

All first place pool teams will play an elimination tournament for the Gold championship on Saturday. Second place teams go in the Silver bracket, third place teams in the Bronze bracket and fourth place teams in the Copper bracket.
