Jacob Guy keeping college options open

After a full summer of working out at colleges across the Southeast, Pasco quarterback Jacob Guy is ready to focus on the fall.

“I’m pretty camped out actually,” Guy said.

Guy, a 6-foot-5 senior, landed scholarship offers from UMass and Western Michigan after passing for 25 touchdowns and almost 2,000 yards last fall. He was also the St. Petersburg Times' North Suncoast Offensive Player of the Year.

He attended summer camps at Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, Miami and South Florida. He also made a trip to Gainesville last week for the Gators’ Friday Night Lights recruiting event before leading the Pirates to the Sling and Shoot title at USF.

Guy said he doesn’t want to commit to a school anytime soon because he wants to keep his options open.

“Any scholarship is a wonderful thing, don’t get me wrong,” Guy said. “We’re just seeing how everything turns out. My senior year is a big year.”
