Plant DB Javonte Martin, one of the area’s top cornerbacks last fall, has two schools at the top of his list, Panthers coach Robert Weiner said Tuesday night.
They are: Georgia Southern and Murray State.
The 5-foot-9, 155-pound Martin will visit GSU this week. He already has tripped to Murray State.
“They’ve both offered,” Weiner said. “Murray State is very high on him.”
Martin, a key member of arguably the region’s best defense in 2009, had 53 tackles and three interceptions (second on the team).
Georgia Southern and Murray State are Division I-AA programs.
GSU, a member of the powerful Southern Conference, was 5-6 last year. Murray State, which plays in the Ohio Valley Conference, was 3-8.
