The Jefferson girls basketball team will have its third head coach in as many years.

The school has hired Natanya Miller, who has been the Dragons' junior varsity coach, to take over for Jim Baxter, who led the Dragons to a 27-2 record and the Class 4A region last season in his first and only year as coach.

“She knows what we do here because she’s been an integral part of it,” Jefferson athletic director Bob Morgan said of Miller.

Jefferson has been one of the bay area’s top girls basketball programs, going 83-8 over the last three years and averaging 28 wins over that span.

Morgan said Miller’s hiring was announced to the team Friday.

Baxter took over last year for Tom Mosca, who departed for an assistant coaching position at Air Force after guiding the Dragons to their first state tournament appearance in 2010!
