Jefferson receiver Andre Davis, one of the bay area's top wideouts and a key member of the Dragons' Class 3A state title team, has orally committed to USF, he announced on his Facebook page Sunday.
"I Andre Davis am officially a USF Bull," Davis posted. "The feeling is indescribable ... I just can't wait to get in there and work hard with my new family. We on our way to big things in the Big East."
Davis made his commitment on an official visit to the USF campus this weekend. He also had trips planned out to Texas Tech and Rutgers over the next two weeks. He was also considering Miami, Florida State and West Virginia.
He is the first top bay area recruit to commit to the Bulls.
In the fall, Davis said early playing time would play an important role in his decision, as would the college's business school. He plans to study business management.
Ranked a four-star recruit by Scout.com and a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and ESPN, Davis was the Dragons' top vertical threat the past two seasons, making several acrobatic catches during Jefferson's title season this past year.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Davis was the bay area's second leading receiver this season with 55 catches 1,148 yards and 12 touchdowns. As a junior, he led the bay area with 68 catches for 1,201 yards and 18 touchdowns.
A text message to Davis was not immediately returned.
