Jefferson rising senior wide receiver Chris Moore has received his biggest scholarship offer to date, one that will likely open doors to more bigger Division-I offers.
Moore was offered by Big Ten school Illinois on Thursday, Jefferson coach Mike Fenton. Moore had previously received an offer from FIU.
Fenton had lauded Moore as the team's top route runner on a squad full of talented wideouts. Last season, he was a big part of Jefferson's success. He was Jefferson's second leading receiver and the sixth in the bay area with 722 receiving yards and 5 TDs on 30 receptions.
Former Hillborough County standouts Jarred Fayson (Hillsborough) and Fred Sykes (Chamberlain) are currently receivers at Illinois. Former Gaither standout Justin Lattimore plays tight end for thr Illini.
The Fighting Illini had also previously offered two of Moore's Jefferson teammates -- receiver Andre Davis and linebacker Ramik Wilson, Fenton said.
