Jefferson receiver Andre Davis, regarded as one of the top junior prospects in the state, has been invited to participate in the U.S. Army All-America combine and the Under Armour All-American Game combine, Dragons coach Mike Fenton said Monday.
Davis (left, No. 7) is planning on attending both, which essentially serve as tryouts for each respective All-American game, complete with competitions similar to the NFL Combine. Alonso junior defensive lineman Anthony Chickillo received an invitation to the U.S. Army combine last week.
Both combines will take place the first week January, Under Armour's at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando and the U.S. Army combine in San Antonio.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Davis leads the bay area with 985 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns on 53 receptions. He has already received scholarship offers from Miami, Florida State, USF and Florida International. He is also one of four local juniors to be named to ESPNU's Class of 2011 Top 150 Watch List.
Fenton said scouts from the Under Armour Game stopped by practice last week and are considering offering junior quarterback Quentin Williams a combine invitation. Williams, who last week broke South Carolina's Stephen Garcia's single-season touchdown pass school record with 31, owns an offer from FIU.
Davis and his Jefferson teammates host Land O'Lakes in the Class 3A region quarterfinals on Friday.
