Like all current sophomores (Class of 2012) Jefferson's Tyriq McCord can't officially receive a written offer until Sept. 1, but Wednesday South Carolina told him to expect one.

The Gamecocks verbally offered the Dragon defensive end, a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder that will certainly be one of the top recruits in 2012. McCord, who had 63 tackles and 6 sacks last season, is a put-together speed rusher that should flourish this season on a Dragons defense returning just about everyone.
