Jefferson senior tight end/linebacker Fred Overstreet has his mind on the Dragons' Class 3A region final game at Citra North Marion this week, but his college future isn't far from his mind.

Overstreet, in his first season of playing defense fulltime, has received offers from Minnesota, Syracuse and Purdue. He said all are recruiting him as a linebacker.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Overstreet said Monday he's favoring Minnesota right now, but he's still open.

"They're the ones who have shown the most interest in me," he said.

Jefferson coach Mike Fenton believes this is just the beginning of the offers for Overstreet.

"How can you not like him when you see his tape," said Fenton, who added that Rutgers recently asked for film of Overstreet.

Overstreet is averaging 12.5 tackles a game on defense and averages 9.4 yards per catch as a tight end.
