Jerry Mita Invitational

Where: Pinellas Park High

When: Round 1 begins Friday at 2. Semifinals and wrestlebacks begin Saturday at 10.

Who: Berkeley Prep, Boca Ciega, Northeast, Palm Harbor University, Pinellas Park, Seminole, Tarpon Springs, Largo, Northside Christian, Sarasota Riverview, Admiral Farragut, Lakewood Ranch, Anclote, Sarasota Booker, Citrus Park, Clearwater, Countryside, Gibbs, Indian Rocks Christian, Lakewood, Osceola, Shorecrest, St. Petersburg, Carrollwood Day

Skinny: Only the PCAC tournament later in the season will offer cross-classification matches like this in county. Eric Cabral of Class A Booker will likely go against 3A PHU’s Connor Prince in the 132 final. Jay Dugmore of IRC is ranked eighth in Class A and should be in the mix. …At last weekend’s East Lake Invitational, the most hotly-contested final was between PHU’s Anthony Agazarm and Seminole’s Anthony Parisi. Parisi scored a last-second reversal to seemingly beat Agazarm, but the clock expired and Parisi had to accept a 6-5 decision. The stage is set for a rematch. …The host Patriots have a shot at an individual title at 195 pounds. Sophomore Chance Leccese is ranked 10th in Class 3A and was runnerup at the East Lake tourney.
