Jesuit tops in 5A boys basketball poll

Jesuit, Berkeley Prep and Tampa Prep are ranked first, second and third in their respective classifications in the latest FABC/Source Hoops state poll released Tuesday morning.

Jesuit (13-1), undefeated against state competition and fresh off an 11-point triumph against rival Tampa Catholic, is No. 1 in Class 5A. Berkeley Prep (14-1) is ranked only behind 2012 state runnerup Orlando Lake Highland in 4A. Tampa Prep (14-0) is behind Jacksonville Providence and Weston Sagemont, both of whom it defeated in last season's 3A state tournament.

Berkeley hosts Tampa Prep in the "Headmasters Challenge" Saturday afternoon.

Other local teams ranked: Cambridge Christian and Tampa Bay Christian (eighth and ninth, respectively, in 2A), Tampa Catholic (ninth in 4A), Boca Ciega and Gibbs (fifth and eighth, respectively, in 5A), Sickles (10th in 6A) and Wharton (ninth in 8A).
