Jesuit rising senior running back Miles Bennett, the frontrunner to be the Tigers starting tailback next fall, is receiving some major Division I interest.
Colleges like USF, UCF, Rutgers, Northwestern, Iowa, Notre Dame and Ohio State have shown interest, either calling or scouting Bennett in practice, Jesuit assistant coach Frank Rose said Thursday.
Bennett also just placed fourth in the 100 yard dash in the Class 2A state meet (10.91 seconds) last weekend. He also finished seventh in the 200 (22.12).
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Bennett was the backup to Robby Garcia last year, but he averaged 5.7 yards per carry, rushing for 223 yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries. He had a 78-yard game against Middleton and a 77-yard game against Steinbrenner last season.
