Jesuit's Edwards switches from Western Kentucky to FAU

Jesuit DT Isaac "Ike" Edwards pulled off the area's first signing day surprise, applying his ballpoint to a National Letter of Intent with Florida Atlantic.

But to his credit, the longtime Western Kentucky commitment let the Hilltoppers staff know about it before anyone else.

"It was was very upsetting to them," said Edwards, who phoned WKU coach Willie Taggart on Tuesday night.

"I apologized for the late switch. By no means did I want to screw them out of a recruit; that's not what I'm about, that's not what my family's about, that's not what my school teaches. It was an unfortunate decision for them, but I had to make the best decision for me."

Edwards, who said he changed his mind Tuesday morning, indicated FAU was a better fit for he and his family. He was joined at Wednesday's signing ceremony by Tigers TB Rico Gonzalez (Hamilton), C Kevin Ormsby (John Carroll) and WR/DB Bryce Walker (Harvard).
