Jesuit left-hander Daniel Gibson has been named a Louisville Slugger High School All-American, the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced Monday.
Gibson, the Times' All-Suncoast Pitcher of the Year, led the Tigers to the Class 4A state title game, pitching in all five region and state tournament games. He was 14-1, his only loss coming the state title game, with a 1.64 ERA.
Last week, Gibson placed fourth in Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Baseball voting. He had previously been named the state Class 4A player of the year.
Gibson, who has signed with UF and was drafted by the Brewers in the 26th round, was the only local player named to the team, but Alonso teammates Jose Fernandez and Tyler Ding received honorable mentions.
