Here's a recruiting tale played out in reverse order: Ellsworth Community College has T.J. Mutcherson's signature, but not his commitment.
Mutcherson, Freedom's two-way speedster and top receiver, acknowledged Monday that he recently signed with the two-year program in Iowa Falls, Iowa; but never intended to go there. Mutcherson signed the paperwork and faxed it in, but the school sent it back because it had no parental signature.
And Mutcherson's not going to get one.
"It was just a backup thing or whatever, but I wasn't going to go there," he said.
Instead, Mutcherson, who had 28 catches for 658 yards and five pass deflections on defense as a senior, remains hopeful of hooking up with USF, perhaps as a walk-on or grayshirt. He said his GPA is fine, but he still needs a minimum required score on the ACT.
