Keswick Christian running back DeJuan Wright was seeking a fifth year of eligibility to play this season but his request was denied at Florida High School Athletic Association sectional appeal two weeks ago, Crusaders coach Rick Sanson said.
Wright transferred from Gibbs and had to sit out a year. Last season, he was back on the field and rushed more than 900 yards and scored nine touchdowns. He was allowed to play in the spring game against Bradenton St. Stephen's and had 180 yards rushing on 20 carries and scored twice.
Sanson said he plans to appeal directly to the FHSAA board to request Wright's fifth year in a few weeks.
