Tarpon Springs senior MLB/TE Kostas Vavlas will make an official visit to Division I-A Toledo this weekend. Next week, he’ll check out I-AA Eastern Kentucky.

The 6-foot, 235-pounder is a two-year starter.

He had 135 tackles in 2009. This fall, he’s on pace to surpass that total.

Toledo has not yet offered a scholarship, but Spongers coach George Kotis anticipates the Rockets probably will. And possibly soon.

Vavlas, by the way, has a 4.2 GPA.

He won’t be the only local at Toledo this weekend.

Lakewood RB Bernard Reedy Jr. is headed there for an official as well.
