Wesley Chapel is losing one of the most successful track coaches in North Suncoast history.

Kristi Frye guided the Wildcats to conference and district titles, a region championship and two region runnerup finishes during her seven seasons as the head coach.

Frye is leaving Wesley Chapel to teach Florida Virtual School. With Wesley Chapel opening supplements of off-campus coaches in search of on-campus coaches, Frye said this was the right time to step aside.

"This is a good time," Frye said. "I'm transitioning to a new school and so this just feels like the right time."

Frye said there is no right time to step aside, but this last group of seniors held a special spot in her heart. Frye did not dismiss the possibility of coaching in the future.

"There's always a new group of freshmen coming in," Frye said. "There would never be a perfect time."
