Armwood FS Kyle Gibson confirmed Thursday evening he has committed to Vanderbilt, choosing the Commodores over USF, Miami, Louisville and Notre Dame.
He indicated via Twitter he was in Nashville when he committed.
Should he formalize his commitment on national signing day in February, Gibson (6-foot, 170 pounds) would become the third Armwood player to sign with the SEC program in the last four winters, joining WR Josh Grady (2011) and OL Kevin McCoy ('12).
Ranked the nation's No. 9 safety and 161st overall prospect by ESPN, Gibson recorded 65 tackles, four interceptions and four forced fumbles as a junior. According to VandySportscom, he's the highest rated DB to commit to VU in the Rivals.com era.
