Former Northside Christian and St. Petersburg basketball player Deja Swinton is now at Lakewood. Swinton, a sophomore, transferred prior to the start of the school year.
As an eighth-grader she helped lead Northside to a 25-5 record. Last season she was St. Petersburg's starting point guard. Swinton (5-foot-8) will play guard along with Tianah Alvarado and Alexis Ungro.
Former Pinellas Park center Aliyah Frazer also transferred to Lakewood. Frazer, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, averaged 5.4 points per game for the Patriots as a freshman. But Tunsil said she is unsure whether Frazer will tryout for the team.
As if the Spartans needed any more size, Tunsil said incoming freshman SiYana Allen is a 6-foot-1 center who could also see some playing time. Lakewood plays its first preseason game Nov. 8 against Jefferson.
