The most startling thing about Lakewood pitcher Mariah Watts committing this past week to play softball for Wisconsin is that she still has two years left in high school.

Watts, a sophomore, wasted no time making her college decision, choosing the Badgers over offers from other schools such as Central Florida and Massachusetts.

In Watts' freshman season, she established herself as one of Pinellas County's premier power pitchers, registering 203 strikeouts to rank among the top three in that category.
