Cambridge Christian’s Matt Fishman, who helped lead the Lancers to two straight Class A state championship games, has committed to Quincy University, a Division II program in Illinois.

Fishman’s signing ceremony will be held at Cambridge on Nov. 18 at 3:10 pm.

Fishman is being recruited as a pitcher. He also plays first base and outfield at Cambridge.

Fishman was 8-5 last season with a 2.18 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 61 innings. He held opponents to a .233 batting average.

Cambridge has previously sent three athletes to Quincy: football players Austin Welti and Erik Shears and baseball player Trent Tagliarini.

Fishman will be coached by Brian Unger.

The Hawks went 30-25 last season.

They play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Fishman was second-team Class A all state as a junior.
