Land O’Lakes star tight end Kent Taylor has been suspended for this week’s game against Central, Florida High School Athletic Association spokesman Corey Sobers said Thursday evening.

Taylor was ejected in the closing minutes of last week’s 21-10 loss to Sunlake for a personal foul.

The FHSAA official's report said that Taylor took a step and threw a punch, Sobers said. But a subsequent video review showed that it was an open-palm helmet slap and not a punch, so the state’s suspension was reduced to a Level 1. That means the country’s top tight end and new Florida commit will be eligible for the Gators’ final two games of the season.

Taylor and Land O’Lakes coach Brian Wachtel did not return requests for comment.
