Land O’Lakes’ boys track team remains unbeaten after knocking off Nature Coast and four other teams Tuesday at Wiregrass Ranch.
The Gators are 5-0 thanks to the North Suncoast’s deepest lineup. Land O’Lakes scored in all but one event to claim the Chasco Invitational earlier this month and took points in every event at Wiregrass.
“We have good performers across the board,” coach Bill Schmitz said. “When we get into a meet like that, it’s paying off for us as far as points go.”
A young 4x100 meter relay team has been one reason why after breaking the school record twice in the last three weeks. Senior Josh Davis, freshman Dylan Mohamed and sophomores Stefan Zapata and Isaac Cabrera finished in 44.3 seconds Tuesday.
Hurdlers Kyle McKee (300 meters) and Columbia recruit Darin Patmon (110 meters) have dominated their events, and sophomores Travis Nichols and Tyler Stahl took first and second in the 3,200 meters.
Two standout linebackers have also bolstered Land O’Lakes’ depth. Jackson Cannon set a new personal record to win the discus (134-4), and Shadow Williams placed second in the shot put (42-8).
The Gators will compete in Saturday’s meet at USF.
