Largo still monitoring Juwan Brown's injured shoulder

Largo quarterback Juwan Brown is listed as day to day after injuring his shoulder in the first quarter of last week’s game against Boca Ciega.

Packers coach Rick Rodriguez said he will know more about Brown’s status after practice Monday. Brown is scheduled to practice, but backup quarterback Donovan Hale will get some reps with the first string in case Brown is unable to play in Friday’s game against district foe Bradenton Lakewood Ranch.

Brown was hurt late in the first quarter last week and Rodriguez said he held his quarterback out more as a precautionary move. Before leaving, Brown had recorded an interception, ran for a touchdown and threw for another.

The injury comes at a crucial time for Largo, which is trying to clinch its eighth straight district title. So far, the Packers have avoided any serious injuries to their playmakers, something that has hampered them down the stretch the past three seasons.
