Gulf 300-pound senior Leon Orr, out since suffering what was originally diagnosed as a high-ankle sprain three Fridays ago, may remain sidelined for another month.
Bucs coach Jay Fulmer said X-rays taken Monday morning revealed a fracture of Orr's lower leg.
"They went up a little higher on that leg and found out he has a broken bone, broken basically clear through," Fulmer said. "They're saying four weeks, so he's out at least four of the next six games and that's if we're lucky."
A University of Florida commitment, Orr's injury worsens a glaring depth problem for the Bucs, who were trounced 35-14 by third-year program Sunlake on Friday. According to Fulmer's projections, the Bucs may suit up only 23 for Friday's game at Land O'Lakes.
"Things just kind of keep going from bad to worse, but the kids are working hard and doing the best they can," Fulmer said. "We're just out-numbered so bad. ... We're just going to keep working, keep plugging."
