Take one job off the long list of vacancies in Hillsborough County.

Keith Chattin, the offensive line coach at Gainesville Buchholz, has been hired as the new head coach at Lennard, athletic director John Guarisco said. Chattin was chosen after a panel interview with three other finalists: Dedrick Mayo, Joshua Webber and Kevin Wald.

“He’s a good guy, ex-military, ready to settle down make some roots in this area,” Guarisco said. “The discipline that he will bring will be a good fit.”

According to his Buchholz coaching staff biography, Chattin coached at five high school programs in Georgia from 2003-2010 before joining the Bobcats staff prior to last season. Guarisco said he hopes Chattin will be able to join the faculty at Lennard for the spring semester so he could be on campus for spring football and weight training. If not, Chattin, who teaches at Buchholz, will commute and join the Lennard faculty in the fall.

Chattin replaces George Edington, who resigned Nov. 29 after guiding the Longhorns to a 14-25 record in four seasons at Lennard. Buchholz, a Class 7A, District 1 school, was 1-9 last year.
